How to Become a Community Partner

If you are a non-profit organization or government agency in Oregon, YTA wants to partner with you! Here are just a few reasons for your organization to be a YTA community partner organization:

  • Expand your volunteer pool. Through YTA, you get student volunteers ready to help you meet real needs. Students make energetic, creative and compassionate volunteers who will work hard for your organization.
  • Get the word out. You will have the opportunity to educate students (and their peers and families) about the mission and work of your organization, helping to build life-long volunteers and support.
  • Gain support from our schools and community. On this website’s home page, YTA will devote time to each of our partner organizations and its work with YTA students. Your organization will also be recognized through community and school events, press releases, student presentations and celebrations.
  • Benefit from our curriculum. YTA’s curriculum not only prepares students to work with your organization, it also challenges students to think deeply and write about the issues that are important to your organization, to educate his or her classmates about the organization and to offer real solutions to problems facing your organization.

What do we require of you?

Each community partner organization must: (1) sign a Community Partner Agreement; (2) provide us with information (including your application process, requirements for volunteering, description of organization, suggested volunteer activities) to use on our searchable database; and (3) designate one person to serve as “coach” to YTA students. The coach will be required to complete an on-line training, report weekly on students’ hours, and fill out a post-service evaluation of the students. The coach will also be expected to answer the students’ questions, help students to develop meaningful service projects and provide supervision appropriate to high school students.
